Most of us have encountered a bit of bad breath (clinically known as halitosis) due to one or more reasons:
Regular and thorough dental care, including brushing teeth, gums, and tongue, can prevent or eliminate most causes of bad breath. However, if this does not become the case and your bad breath lingers, please visit us at Seaside Dental Practice to ensure you are not suffering from gum disease.
During your appointment, we will get to the bottom of what’s causing the abnormal odour in your mouth. In many cases, a scale and polish appointment with the hygienist may be all that’s needed to remove the bacteria causing the odour. If you have biofilm that has reached underneath the gum line, we may need to perform a non-surgical treatment to reach this.
We will also explore your diet and look at any medications that could be causing a dry mouth (which is a catalyst for bad breath due to inhibiting saliva flow).
With your breath newly fresh, you’re likely to feel much more comfortable around others and more motivated to keep your oral health in tip-top shape.
